What a Weekend...

Friday afternoon we got a call from Amanda saying that she had taken Estefan to the doctor in Overton. She said that he was having a hard time breathing and didn't sleep at all the night before. And when she took him to see that doctor they checked his oxygen levels and they were so low they told her to drive him straight to Mesa View Hospital in Mesquite.

When they got to Mesquite the ER nurses gave him breathing treatments and put him on oxygen. They thought maybe he had pneumonia or bronchitis. Estefan was never able to keep his oxygen levels up on his own even after four breathing treatments. So they decided to transfer him to Sunrise Children's hospital in Las Vegas.

We got to Sunrise at about 6:30PM and Estefan's oxygen levels were still way too low. So they gave him a continuous breathing treatment, with a mask and everything, for two hours. The doctors there thought it was RSV or asthma. His levels were better but he still couldn't keep them up on his own. They continued the oxygen and breathing treatments every two hours through the night.

Saturday morning he was much better. The doctors decided it was for sure asthma. Estefan's levels were up and the doctors let him walk around and play a little. After another breathing treatment they decided he was well enough to go home. They called a respiratory therapist and taught us how to give him an inhaler. We finally got home yesterday night.

It was a crazy scary weekend. Seeing Estefan like that broke my heart. But I'm so grateful for wonderful doctors and nurses and for our awesome family who kept Allie and Mark while we spent the last two days in the hospital. We really couldn't have done it without you guys!

Lauren Butabi?

Steve and Doug Butabi from A Night at the Roxbury

Since I can't take the kids, going to the chiropractor three times a week in Overton, has given me the opportunity to drive alone.. a lot. And since becoming a mom I hardly ever listen to the radio. Usually we are bumpin' to Old McDonald had a Farm and now that we have a DVD player in the truck I get to listen to Dora teach us Spanish.

Well since I get to drive the whole seven minutes it takes to get there alone I've rediscovered the radio. And I love it. I found a really fun station called 94.5 The Vibe (you must say The Vibe in a deep announcer type voice, makes it more fun!). The Vibe plays techno-ish/dance music. Very fun to listen to while driving.
I've discovered Womanizer by Britney Spears is very very hard to get out of your head!

Since the wreck my neck is better but still a little out of line. Whiplash is no fun. And Dr. Askeroth has me doing these exercises to strengthen the ligaments and muscles in my neck. Well the exercises basically consist of me tilting my head to the right over and over and then to the left over and over.
And since the only time I'm really sitting still to do the exercises is while I'm driving, I've been channeling my inner "Butabi"

94.5 + Neck Exercises = Lauren Butabi

I'm sure you can imagine but I've included a video for your viewing pleasure!

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book:

You know, I’ve never had much patience with Romeo.Edward Cullen

Like everything in life, I just had to decide what to do with what I was given.Carlisle Cullen

Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for normal human behavior today.Bella Swan

Forbidden to remember, terrified to forget; it was a hard line to walk.Bella Swan

Speak of the devil and the devil shall appear.Jacob Black

It was ridiculous that I should be so elated because a vampire knew my name.Bella Swan

You aren’t turning into a tree-hugger on me, are you?Charlie Swan

Who’s afraid of the big, bad wolf?Jacob Black

The more you loved someone, the less sense anything made.Bella Swan

I love a happy ending. They are so rare.Aro

So eager for eternal damnation.Edward Cullen

Seriously, Bella! I don’t have any idea how to not kill you.Alice Cullen

On another Twilight note... I bought the Twilight DVD today! Yay!! And for those of you who are worried about my sanity I just started ready Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. I'm not completely obsessed with Edward, just a tiny bit obsessed.. he he!

What does Lauren Love?

1. The Chiropractor
Since my car accident I've been going to Dr. Askeroth three times a week. Dealing with everything has been a literal pain in the neck and he's making me feel so much better!

2. Fancy Allie

Allie is so hilarious. She's going through a phase right now where she only wants to wear dresses. But the dress wearing hasn't stopped her from being the tom-boy her father loves.

This morning I was hanging up some laundry on the line and she (wearing a pretty pink princess dress) grabbed a can of starting fluid and said, "Mommy I want to play with fire." I laughed and told her we'd have to wait til daddy got home from work.. while inside I was freaking out!

A few days ago she was helping Dustin plant in the garden and she says to him, "Daddy I want to plant sandwiches. And can we plant some make-up too?"

Yesterday she says to Estefan, "You shall be called wacky-pants, by order of the princess!" They both thought it was pretty funny! What a DIVA!

3. St. Patrick's Day
For St. Patty's day, I made some avocado flavored green cookies! Don't they look yummy? Just kidding! They are cake-cookies with green food coloring!

4. My Flamly
I love going on four-wheeler rides with my fam. I don't even get unhappy when Dustin drives through mud puddles and I'm the only one to get muddy ;)
5. Capturing the Moment
I love this picture of Allie

6. Mark's Crazy Faces
Mark will be one year old next month and he's changing and growing so much it crazy. He's been making really goofy faces lately.. silly boy! He makes me happy!

7. Talking in Church
Ok.. this one doesn't really make me happy. Our topic is finding peace in the latter days. Its been really nice to study and read more but I'll be way happy at about noon next Sunday when its over with!

8. The Twilight Series
My New Moon countdown has less than 250 days til the premiere YAY! And Twilight comes out on DVD this Saturday, DOUBLE YAY!! I'll race you to Mesquite to get it!!

9. Line Drying

It has been warm enough to line dry my clothes this past week! It makes me so happy to save money and power! YAY for clothes lines!

That's why I'm happy today!

Angel of Mine

While checking some blogs I follow this morning I saw on A Little Bit Scrappy a super cute baby kit from Megan Turnidge called Angel of Mine. First of all I love love love Megan's kits. They are fun and always packed with great stuff. Second, when you buy the kit the money you spend goes to an organization called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. I was really touched by this organization and wanted to share not only the kit with my scrapping friends but information about NILMDTS. Check out the websites and be prepared to cry a little.

Instead of cleaning and making dinner I've spent my afternoon working on this scrapbook page. I used the Joy Mini Kit from ggdigitaldesign.com. The Golden Girls are quickly becoming my favorite site for digital kits and elements! Check out their link on my sidebar!

Emma by Jane Austen

Emma by Jane Austen was a really fun book. I loved it! For me, It ranks right along side Pride and Prejudice.

Given the title one could guess who the main character is! Emma! Everything is about Emma. She, unlike the other heroines I've read about in previous Austen books (Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice) is very wealthy. The book starts out with this paragraph..

Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable home and
happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence;
and had lived nearly twenty-one years in the world with very little to
distress or vex her.

In other words Emma is spoiled and bored. She lives with her father, who being a hypochondriac is always worrying about the health of others. After Emma successfully unites her governess, Miss Taylor with Mr. Weston, Emma discovers that she finds enjoyment in matchmaking.

Thoughout the book we see Emma mismatch and mess-up her dear friend Harriet's love life. While, Emma's neighbor and brother-in-law, Mr. Knightly seems to act as an older brother to her. Mr. Knightly often scolds Emma for her behavor and is quick to tell her of her faults.

The story gets even more entertaining when a new boy comes to town! Mr. Weston's son, Frank Churchill visits after his father's marriage. When it is mentioned he and Emma would make a hansome couple, she tries to force herself to be in love with him!

Emma is totally "Clueless"! But of course everything works out and everybody lives happily ever after!

I loved the movie too! It wasn't as good as the book. But what movie is?! Gwyneth Paltrow made a perfect Emma!

And just for fun... Clueless is a modern adaption of Emma. I would say very loosely based! But funny non the less.

Digital Card

Today was Meka's baby shower! It was lots of fun and she got tons of great stuff. I'll admit, seeing her precious baby and being surrounded by mounds of pink made me a little baby hungry. I wanted another little girl so bad the whole time I was there! Then when I got home I played with Allie and now I'm all cured (at least for now ;)!

I thought I'd try making a card to go with Meka and Eden's present. I was nervous a first because I just ordered my first 12x12 pages from Scrapping Simply and they haven't come in the mail yet.. so I didn't know how it would turn out.

But I thought it looked pretty good, for my first try! Here it is..

In photoshop, I set the page at 5x8 so I could fold the card in half once I printed it. I used elements from a freebie I got on Delicious Scraps called Babylicious! It was fun and easy. I think I'll be making a lot more cards in photoshop. Its not just for scrapbooking anymore!
