Ride with the Whipple's

Last Friday Dustin and I double dated with our cousin's Don and Raegan. We saw Avatar in 3D at the IMAX theater in Vegas! That is for a whole other post.. all I will say now is that if you are planning to go see Avatar in the theater DO NOT get a large Icee! That is all.

Anyway after our date we decided that since the weather had cleared up we should take the kids out on a ride. So Saturday morning we loaded up the trucks and drove out to Buffington pockets.

There is an old dam out there that Don and Dustin both remember going to as kids.

The couldn't decided when exactly it was built but they are guessing early 20's.

The kiddos loved playing in the mud and climbing on the rocks.

Mark

Allie and me on the rocks. Aren't the colors amazing?!

There was also some really neat Indian writings out there. Click here to see Dustin's panorama shot of them.

The water was all puddled up after all the rain last week!

Allie made "snow balls" out of the mud.

Estefan and Hans explored caves!

Then we made the entire loop and came home on the North Shore road.
It was long and bumpy but it sure was fun!!

A Conversation about Rain

We've had a tremendous amount of rain the last few days. I'm not talking about normal Moapa rain. I'm talking flood the Muddy - fill the lake - RAIN!

Today we had a playdate with Elise. On the way home from picking her up I experienced the following conversation...

Allie: Mom what is that noise?
Me: That is the sound of rain hitting our windshield.
Allie: Why is it hitting us? Why is it making that noise?
Me: Well when something hits something else it makes a noise. So when the rain hits our truck that noise happens.
Allie: Well its not nice to hit. Jesus would not like the rain to hit me.
Elise: Rain is good. It makes our plants grow.
Me: Yes and our grass too.
Allie: If the rain hits me will I grow?
Elise: No, you only grow on your birthday.

Hope you are enjoying the rain, as much as I am!

Yup.. go ahead and say it, I'm spoiled!

{Insert girlie squeel here!!}

I got a new kitchen table!!!!!

Squee again :)

We looked all over.. the Boulevard, Ashley Furniture, Walmart, Target.. blah blah-- I counldn't find anything I liked. I knew I wanted a rectangle, black table with bench seats.

Then after I had given up hope, I went into the Down East store to buy myself a pity outfit and there it was out of no where! BAM!! My table.. in a clothing store? Well I guess this Down East was a "Home slash Clothing Outlet" who knew...?

The table and chairs didn't come assembled, but it was cheaper that way and I have these two handy dandy fellers to assemble them for me.

Mark was really serious about it.

Ok. Everybody squee with me!
SQUUEEEEE!
Isn't is pretty?!

Hmmm... next new cabinets? Just kidding Dusin.. {kinda}

Oh! I love it. Can you tell?

AND

My new computer came today. Yipee! Here is where you go ahead and say that I'm spoiled.

Look at that monitor.. 24 inches wide
Intel Quad Core
8 GB Ram
ATI Radeon HD Graphics Card

Sa-weet.
I can't wait to design on this baby!

We got this mouse pad for a wedding present. I like to rub my new laser mouse on Dustin's face ;)

Ok, that's all.

Happy Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary, New Years and Easter to me.

This post is brought to you by the letter N!

Yesterday we had preschool at our house. The letter for the week is N. The kids practiced writing their names, writing the letter N and we read a book about things that start with N.

And it just so happened that I had a whole bunch of Pecans in my yard that needed to be gathered, sooooo....
we picked nuts!

Pecans are nuts, right!
And nut starts with N, so it was perfect and the kids loved it!!

It was like Easter!

The found lots and lots and lots of nuts. Mark even helped! :)

Here they are with their buckets. Notice Allie is dressed up especially fancy for this activity.

I showed the kids how to step on the nuts and crack them open to get the yummy part out. Cash and Hans thought the nuts tasted pretty good.

Allie.. not so much!

It was a beautiful day and super fun activity for the kids.. and now all my Pecans are picked up too!

We did miss Elise though. Hope you are feeling better little girl!!

~~~~~~~
and this has nothing to do with the letter N in any way but it was too cute not to post.
Mark on his horse, yesterday afternoon.
Cutest little cowboy ever!
Mark Update
Update #1:
Remember this picture
and this post?
Well its time for a little update... I did the dirty deed and took Mark's *sample* back to the doctor's office for testing. A few days later the doctor called me with the test results. The phone conversation was as follows:
Doc: Hello, Mrs. Nelson. Mark's test results have come back, positive...
(longest pause in the history of the world)
for E Coli.
Me: aaaaaaah.... E - WHAT?!
Doc: Blah Blah Blah
Mark had E-Coli.
E flippin Coli!!
I could not even believe it. I am a clean freak. I can't begin to imagine where he got it from. Maybe from the farm.. I dunno cows aren't the cleanest animals. Oh, and his little sickness was complete with a call from the Clark County Health District. They quizzed me for 15 mintues on everything from where we eat to where Dustin works.
The doctor gave Mark an antibiotic and he is doing way better. Yesterday was his follow up appointment and we are happy to report that his number 2 is back to its normal consistnacy {I know, sorry, TMI!} and he even gained a pound since last week!
Sadly another dirty deed had to be done. This one was a whole lot easier to obtain thanks to the normal consistancy {I know, TMI again!}. Hopefully the test results from this *sample* come back postive for normal.
Update #2:
Remember this picture
and this post?
This cowboy is official done with binkies. Yup, Mark kicked the habit. He has been binky free for one week today and he's still alive. And guess what? He can actually talk. Who knew!!
That's it for the Mark update.
Sorry if you puked anywhere between this post and the last one.
