and Allie is okay with it!!
Today, Dustin, Allie and Mark accompanied me to the baby doctor. It was a very special day, because we got to "see" the baby and find out if we're having a brother or a sister. Mark was sure that since we were at the doctor someone was sick and someone would be getting a shot. But neither turned out to be true, so he was good!
Ever since the day we told the kids I was pregnant, Allie has said that she needed wanted a little sister. So, Dustin and I have been coaching her and telling her that the baby could be and most likely would be a brother. Then when we went to my sister, Ashley's ultrasound and Allie literally broke down in tears when Ashley's doctor announced that she was having a boy, I knew I did not want her to be upset like that if we had a boy.
So every now and then we'd talk to her about it and say that it was up to Jesus if we have a brother or a sister and that we should be happy either way. And that we will still love the baby even if it is a brother. A few nights ago we were talking about today's doctor visit and she said all on her own, "I'm so excited to see the baby and it will be okay if it is a brother."
And so it is....
The ultrasound tech checked the baby's brain and heart first. Good and good! Then she asked if we wanted to know the baby's gender. "Um, YES please!" She she slid the remote-thingy down and found his legs. And BAM - HELLO! I said, "Ooop, its a boy!" She laughed and said she hadn't even seen it yet, and then she confirmed that yup it was true. We are having a boy!! (see above!)
Everything else looked normal and healthy. He's the right weight and length. There was only one thing --- she couldn't see his stomach clearly enough. She wasn't nervous but decided to do a follow up appointment in a month to be sure. Hopefully his stomach is fine and there!! We'll see again in a month.
We are all so happy and excited to have another little boy! Even Allie!!!
