Poetry and Pie

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Allie and her kindergarten class put on a little show for their families called Poetry and Pie.

It was adorable! They all had turkey hats and sang songs and read poems.

Allie and her partner in crime, Elise Dalley!

Watch with caution, I don't want to make anyone nauseous -- I'm still learning how to use our video camera and Luke kept grabbing my legs.. its a pretty shaky movie! But cute none the less. :)

Ten Months and Max!

Luker boy is 10 months old!

I tell ya I can't keep up with him, its like he's changing every. single. second!

At ten months he
-- has 6 teeth
-- walks, runs, climbs
-- gives big ol' wet open mouth kisses
-- sleeps all night
-- takes two naps (yay for still taking two naps!)
-- likes to sit and read, quite adorable ;)
-- runs to me with his arms out like a little zombie

++ PLUS ++

we finally got to meet MAX!
Chase and Meliss came up from Hawaii for a few weeks this November and we loved hanging out with them and finally seeing baby Max.
Luke and Max are destined to be best friends.. yeah either that or we'll make 'em. Tee hee!

Double Negative and Hagrid

During the height of my morning.. er all day sickness, Dustin was so great and helped with the kids and dishes and laundry and cleaning and and and and and everything.. one day he took the kids out to Double Negative for a morning ride.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that day, my dad called and said they had found an owl stuck in a fence and he was taking it to the game warden. He asked if we wanted to come see if before he took it in.
Yeah, I got my preggo butt off the couch to see this guy!
It wasn't a Snowy Owl like Harry Potter's but it was an owl none the less, so going along with the Potter theme, we named it Hagrid.. for the ten minutes it was in our yard.
Pretty cool, eh?
Shootin' Pumpkins
As per tradition, the day after Halloween, we took our nasty pumpkins up to the dam and shot em.
The kids think its hilarious!
Halloween in Mexico in Cannonville in Logandale
Because of our growing families, we had to skip out on our traditional Halloween trip this year and stay home in Logandale. Which was wonderful anyway! We had a our fiesta and pinata and candy, candy, candy!!
We thought we were being nice and let the little kids hit the pinata without a blindfold...
but by the time we got to Allie and Elise they had whacked the candy out of it...
and the big boys didn't get a turn!
But everybody got candy!
and crazy teeth of course!!
It was a great night -- can't wait til next year!!
Pumpkins
I was sooooooooo sick the days leading up to Halloween. It was awful, all day sickness.. none of this so called "morning sickness" stuff.. but ALL day. So the kids and Dus carved the pumpkins without me.. while I slept on the couch.
Halloween night we lit them up and played with glow sticks!
Happy Halloween!!
Wizard of Oz Costumes
I know you are all dying to see my kids' Wizard of Oz costumes, so without further ado....
Dorothy, The Cowardly Lion, The Tin Man and the Scarecrow.
Link
I had lots of fun with my mom making these! I'm not sure I'll make costumes every year.. and I'm no where near this kind of talent.. it was fun none the less!
Estefan's get up was pretty simple. Spray paint to a funnel and toy hatchet, red felt heart hand sewn to gray thermals. I thought about spray painting his boots too.. but my brain caught up with my excitement. ;)
Allie's dress was the hardest one and it wasn't too bad. It is a simple elastic waist banded skirt, then we added a square front and two strips for the shoulder straps. Red shoes from Wal-Mart.
Mark's was the easiest, because it was a hand me down! No work here. My wonderful neighbor let us borrow it and it fit perfect. He just put on his hat for the Big Cowboy touch.
I about died of cuteness overload when we finished Luke's costume. I'm mean how cute is he???! Its just a brown hoodie and pants from Wal-Mart with felt tail and mane.
Halloween party and pumpkin carving posts coming soon!
