He-Who-Has-No-Name

Yesterday was my ultrasound follow up from this appointment. At my last ultrasound, the tech couldn't see the baby's stomach clearly and wanted me to come in again to make sure all was well. And it is.. phew!

Everything still looks "beautiful." He has all his organs, lip and palette are normal, hands, arms, feet and little boy parts are still intact! He's growing normally and is healthy!

Now he just needs a name!

Any ideas???!

Duh

Today Allie was drawing with sidewalk chalk on the back porch.
Excitedly she yelled, "Mom! Come see my grave yard."

"Allie that looks really good. But why is your name in the graveyard?"
"So when people come by they can see that its me!"

"Okay, but why are you in the graveyard?"
"Because I'm getting ready for Halloween, duh."

Oh... right Halloween. Phew...

Delamar Valley

Saturday afternoon we took a spontaneous trip out to the Delamar mine.
I had never been there and I love seeing new places so I was a ready teddy!
Delamar is a couple hours away, near Alamo. The road was super bumpy and I may have gotten a little nauseated but we made it in one piece!

At the bottom of the hill before you start up to the actual mining town there is a little cemetery.
Most of the graves are 100+ years old.

This is the first house we explored. The rock work is amazing. Its incredible what people did in the past without heavy machinery. (and a nice side shot of my preggo belly)

I think this was probably a two story building, but anything not made of rock has rotted or been blown away. The only thing left anywhere are the foundations and rock walls.

Oopp.. there's my belly again. So much for my no belly pictures rule!

My three {soon to be four} beautiful kids!

Some of Dustin's photography

We had our customary PB&J picnic lunch and then we took turns shooting some cans.

Mark the littlest outlaw!

Tough guys

My wonderful family!

Some more of Dustin's great pictures. I was truly an amazing place!

You just have to stay away from any open mine shafts!!!

There goes the neighborhood!
This is all that's left of a little stretch of homes.

Estefan was pretty fascinated with this house and it's old chimney.
I think he wanted to throw a roof on and move in!

Us wild and crazy Nelsons!

We watched the sunset and headed home!

It was a beautiful day in the hills.

Funnies

Allie
The other day Dustin took Allie to the Lost City Museum. When she got home I asked her how it was and what she saw.
She said, "We saw Indian jewelry and things Indians used to kill their food. There were things we're not posed to touch. And there was an old phone too. Oh and did you know the signs says 'Lost City Museum'? Well me and daddy found it."

Mark

I was laying by Mark the other night and he hugged me tight and said,
"Mom, no bad guys get you. I shoot em."

Dustin

{Another} The other night, Allie came to mine and Dustin's bed. I woke up a little then rolled over and went back to sleep. A little while later I felt warm.... and wet.
Allie peed in the bed!
So I said to Dustin, "Hon, Allie peed."
to switch he said,
"Just put some newspaper down."
Seriously???!!
2:00 am is not the time to fight... so I let him lay in the pee and I slept in Allie's bed.

It had to happen eventually.. right?

Friday night we decided to have a camp out on the back lawn. Dustin brought out the hide-a-bed mattress (for me cuz he loves me soo), lots of pillows, blankets and a portable TV. We watch Matilda under the stars and had a great night.

Little did we know that earlier in the evening Estefan took a pack of Juice Fruit bubble gum from my super secret candy stash and hid the pack of gum under his pillow. I don't know if he snuck the gum and chewed it during the night and it fell out of his mouth.. or if the dew from the law turned the gum into a sticky wad.. but this is what he woke up like the next morning!!
He came in for breakfast and said, "Mommy Lauren, I did not sleep very good. My head feels all hard."
So I had him turn around and let me take a look. Holy crap! There was gum caked all over the back of his head and all down his t-shirt!!! I had to throw away his shirt and the pillow case he slept on.

Now what???
Scissors... hack job hair cut... bald spots... no good.

Clippers... too much gum... jammed up the razors... no good.

How about the ol' peanut butter trick? Eh, does that even really work? It was worth a shot.
Mark was very curious as to why Dad was buttering Estefan's head. Estefan was a great sport and asked for a piece of bread!

And holy moly it worked!! The peanut butter soften the gum and Dustin was able to comb it right out!

TA-DA! Gum free hair!!

At first I was really upset at Estefan for pilfering my super secret candy stash and hiding gum under his pillow for later.. but it was just too funny! I couldn't help but to laugh. Crazy man!

And he promised never to hide candy in his bed again.

Lesson learned?

I think so.

I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils...

Don't you just love New York Logandale in the Fall? (name that movie!)

Things I'm loving so far this Fall:

1. Preschool
These kids are so much fun! When I went to pick Allie up from her first day this is what I found!

When I told her it was time to go and she needed to give Hans his goggles back she said,
"But Mom! I can't see without my glasses!!" What a nut.

My mom sent me this picture the other day.. this is me on my first day of preschool.

I think Allie and I might look alike. Do you see any resemblance?

2. Learning
"Mom, Mom! Come see this! There is an L in the living room!"
The sunshine from the front window made a perfect L shape on the floor. YAY for preschool and ABC's!

3. Boredom
Mark's not too sure he likes Allie going to preschool.. he gets bored and tries to invent games to play on his own. This one is called "I See You." He found as many toys as he could with holes in them and held them to his eyes and proudly said to me, "I see you!" He did this for at least 15 minutes.

Sometimes I get bored when Allie is gone too. I think I might get Dustin's duct tape next Tuesday and make some of these flowers for mine and Allie's flip flops. (The Crafting Chicks)

4. Fridays at the Library
We've also been enjoying the library again! And look who was there to welcome us back!
Well, hello there Edward.

5. My Birthday
I turned 24 on Wednesday. It was a great day. My family totally spoiled me.
I got Scoop for dinner! No dishes!! YAY!

Oh man did I get spoiled!
 Some of my goodies...

So there you have it. I'm loving the Fall.

Peace Out..
