Double Negative and Hagrid

During the height of my morning.. er all day sickness, Dustin was so great and helped with the kids and dishes and laundry and cleaning and and and and and everything.. one day he took the kids out to Double Negative for a morning ride.

Later that day, my dad called and said they had found an owl stuck in a fence and he was taking it to the game warden. He asked if we wanted to come see if before he took it in.
Yeah, I got my preggo butt off the couch to see this guy!

It wasn't a Snowy Owl like Harry Potter's but it was an owl none the less, so going along with the Potter theme, we named it Hagrid.. for the ten minutes it was in our yard.

Pretty cool, eh?

Allie's Letter

Dear Miss Nelson,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Dear Parents or Guardians:

Your child has been assigned to Mrs. Hammon's kindergarten class. We look forward to your child's return on Monday, August 29th at 8:50am.

Can you believe it?!

In less than 20 days my little girl, my amazing helper, my right hand man, my partner in crime, my lovely sunshine, Miss Allie will be starting kindergarten.

We are so excited for this new adventure in her life!

DBC and HPDH2

Friday July 15th was an epic day. It was the day of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows premiere and it was the day before the annual Designer Blogs Conference.

Lauren, Emily, Amy, Erin, Taylor, and Lara

Because I love working with these girls, I graciously waited an entire weekend before watching HPDH2. ;)
But I sported my Gryffendor shirt so all was well with the world again.

DBC was great. I got to meet Taylor and Emily. Lara and I didn't have to sleep on Erin's son's bunk beds like last year (because my family came along too -- post on that adventure coming soon), and last but not least, Amy taught us all Wordpress!!

Then on Monday night I saw The Deathly Hallows part 2.
It was really, really good. Lots of great effects, plenty of fabulous one liners AND Ron and finally Hermione kiss!

If the Icee machine at the theater would've been working, it would've been the perfect way to end the series.

Here are some of my favorite lines and stills from the movie. In no particular order.

Harry Potter: We have to go there, now.
Hermione Granger: What? We can't do that! We've got to plan! We've got to figure it out...
Harry Potter: Hermione! When have any of our plans ever actually worked? We plan, we get there, all hell breaks loose!



Ollivander: He's after you, Mr. Potter. You really don't stand a chance.
Harry Potter: I suppose I'll have to kill him before he finds me.


Minerva McGonagall: I've always wanted to use that spell.



Professor Severus Snape: [to Dumbledore about Harry] You've kept him alive so that he can die at the proper moment.

[pauses waiting for a response from Ginny, then addresses Hermione]

(I know, I know.. this still in NOT from DH2. The internet seems to be hiding all the good photos of Dumbledore from me.)

Life at 31 weeks

Oh me, oh my.. thirty one weeks down. Can you believe I only have about eight weeks left (if my doc still plans on inducing me early)! I was clicking through the "you might also like..." posts the other day and ran across this one where I mentioned I was ten weeks along and had only 30 weeks to go. Talk about a flip flop. Wasn't I just 10 weeks the other day? This year is sure flying by. November was an awesome month full of long weekends and holidays. Now that December is practically here and I've entered the last trimester, I'm fully enjoying maternity clothes that don't fit, Braxton Hicks, every two week doctor appointments, sleepless nights, restless leg syndrome, can't-get-comfortable-no-matter-what syndrome, baby hick ups and lots of movement and growing. I've put on some serious weight and I think we're going to welcome another 10lb baby in January!

Here are some things we've been up to in the last week:
Went to the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 premiere

How flippin' awesome was this movie???!
I think its been the best book adaption so far. I loooooooved the 7 Harry's scene. I laughed so hard! "Bill don't look at me, I'm hideous." LOL!
I also loved the Ministry of Magic scene. I think they did a great job staying true to the book. Ron was killing me as Reg, the Ministry worker.
Speaking of Ron (my love), did anyone else cry when left?! Oh.. maybe its just my hormones...
Then the final scene when Voldemort stole Dumbeldore's wand! Wowzazs. Perfect way to transition to the next movie. Per.fec.tion.
If I could sit in the movie theater for another 2 and half hours without dying I'd see it again!!!

Celebrated Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving at the Dalley's. Kristi made some yummy turkey, Corey did a great job mashing the potatoes (safety goggles and all), Grandma's salads and Aunt Susan's pies were to die for! I ate way too much and gain 5lbs... seriously though, just ask my doctor.

Went canoeing

After we ate, most everybody headed to the river to participate in the annual canoe run. It was over all quite a success. Nobody flipped their canoe.. the only wet moments were when Mark got his boots wet and Corey and Caleb bobbed under the water during launch. Estefan and Will even got to paddle their own canoe.. they are quite the grown up's if you did know!

Got a Christmas tree.. or two.. or four!
On Black Friday, we skipped the stores and headed for the hills. We went to Cedar Mountain to get our Christmas tree!!

If you follow the photos you'll see Dustin's hike from getting the "perfect" tree. The snow was up to his waist but he trucked through it to chop down the beauty, while the rest of us sat in the truck with the heater on!

Trimmed the trees

The kids love to decorate the tree, so after Dustin and I got the lights on it was all them! They did a great job. I think its our best tree yet!

And Estefan, Mark and Allie are pretty cute too!!

We may have gotten a little carried away and got little trees for each of the kids' rooms too, but we couldn't help it!!

Watched Christmas movies by the fire
The night we got our tree up and decorated, Dustin made a fire and pulled the kids' mattress into the living room. It was so fun! We ate popcorn, drank hot chocolate and watched Christmas movies til we fell asleep.. which was only about 8:30PM. I think playing in the snow wore the kids right out!!


Hung lights on the house
Saturday morning Dustin and the kids went to work putting lights on the house. We put icicle lights up this year. Love them! Now our house looks like a big ol' gingerbread house! Dustin insisted on putting lights on the chimney. I had to close my eyes and pretend I was okay with it. But he got them up and didn't get hurt!!! Thank goodness, but we won't be doing that again.

So life is good. 31 weeks down... Still can't believe it.
Bring on December. 25 days til Christmas, 59 days til Baby Boy comes!!!

{Lauren Loves} What's New With The Nelson's

Hey hey hey!
I think its been a while since I've done a post about what we've been up too.
So here it is...

1. 5th Anniversary
Our get away was amazing! When we got to our hotel it was full of 12 year old baseball players. So to compensate for the noise factor they gave us an Anniversary Suite half price!! It was amazing. But no pictures because we forgot our camera. So lets just say it did not look like this....

2. SOLD
We sold our motorcycle. Its gone baby gone.
Dustin thinks I should blog the motorcycle's history... but I think it makes me sound mean. So that's probably not going to happen.

3. I love Bakerella
Go there NOW! This blog is amazing. I tried their chocolate chip cookie recipe. The cookies were yummy... but for some reason whenever I make cookies the end up looking like this...

4. Our Entry Way Remodel
Its coming along nicely! We (and when I say we... I mean Dustin) painted and painted and painted. And guess what we still have more painting to do. But its looking way better!!!
See. I helped. A little.
5. Estefan turned 7!
He wanted a Transformers cake. This is the best I could do... its a Decepticon face, if you couldn't tell.
He got a fish from my sister (among other things). He named it Timmy the fish after the cartoon the Fairly Odd Parents. Pretty funny kid!
6. Elise turned 4!
My niece Elise (ya I'm a rhymer) had a birthday party at the Mesquite rec center pool. It was lots of fun but I only got this one picture. I was too nervous to take my camera in the water!

7. Mark is a Vampire
Yup.. see that little fang! He's got two of em. And because of them he doesn't sleep. So like I said.. Mark is a vampire.
8. My Baby Einstein
Mark's learning new words and tricks every day.

*He knows his body parts. His favorite is to show me his tongue.
* He says SHHHHH when someone is sleeping
*He points to the stove and says HOT! He also says HOT when he's outside on the cement without shoes!
9. Christmas in July
Allie is obsessed with Christmas right now. We watched Mickey Mouse's Christmas Carol and The Grinch yesterday. This morning she woke up and said, "Mom, is it Christmas yet?" When I said no. She said, "Ok, well I guess I'll just go back to sleep." Silly girl!

Dustin took me to see HP and the HBP again! My brother in law thinks I have an addiction.. oh well.
