Weekend Update x2

The weekend of the the 9th I traveled to Utah to meet all the Designer Blogs girls! Friday afternoon Lara and I hit the road. It was so great to see her, catch up on life and reminisce about the good ol' days! That night we arrived at Erin's house and had some fun girl time. Saturday, Amy and her super duper cute baby, Addi joined us for a day of bid-NASS!

We worked all day on new design skills and technique, talked about the future for Designer Blogs, ate yummy food and just had fun getting to know each other in person! I love these girls and I'm so glad to have finally met them. Big things are coming to DB, so keep an eye on the bloggity blog.
Saturday night we stayed with Lara's sister in law, Lindsay, who I lived next door to at college in Reno! It was awesome to see her again and meet her beautiful family. Thanks for a great weekend girls, I can't wait to get together again!!

This weekend was full of fun too! We spent Saturday morning out at Meadow Valley wash with Brian and Jill and Josh Jensen (missed you Wendy). We roasted hot dogs and the kids played and played. I did take the camera, but for some reason I never got it out of the truck.. hmmm... I guess we'll just have to go out again!

Saturday afternoon my mom, sister Heather and I threw a baby shower for my sister Ashley. Ashley got soooooo spoiled with lots of great stuff for her little man.

After the party my brother Justin and Dad were just coming home from deer hunting and we snapped this silly pic.

Quick kid update:
Estefan is doing well in school and loving boy scouts.
Allie is continuing to learn her ABC's at preschool, then has music and dance class.
Mark loves to play in the dirt and help Papa Stan on the tractor.
Baby is growing and moving like crazy.

And that's all for now.. October is flying right on by! I'm ready to bust out the Christmas movies and sweaters. How about you?!

Pumpkin Time!

Last night after dinner we picked pumpkins!!

I've been so excited to go and get some pumpkins, melons and corn from Grandpa's garden I could hardly stand it. Then with all the rain we had Monday we had to wait til the mud dried up a bit.

Allie had to have a little one for her room and Dustin has this weird love for the green pumpkins.

I like mine orange... just sayin.

Mark wanted a huge pumpkin. And he wanted to carry it all by himself.

Dad said "Ready? Here you go."

I got it. I got it. I got it.

I don't got it!

So he picked a smaller one and loaded it up on the wheeler.

Allie found another one and the vine tickled her little nose!

We walked around the patch and picked and picked until it got dark and we were super muddy!

But Allie said, "Just one more!!"

Now we're all loaded up and ready for Halloween!!!

Public Lands Day 2010

Last Saturday we went to Public Lands Day at Gold Butte. It was the kick of for Dustin's Gold Butte Historical Documentation Project.. which is pretty much going to be the coolest thing ever.

Part of the goal of Public Lands Day is to connect people with the public lands and celebrate service and recreation on those lands. With this (Historical Documentation) project we hope to raise people's awareness of the rich history that is also connected with our public lands and encourage them to visit these places. 

The overall goal of Gold Butte Historic Documentation Project is to create a catalog of places within Gold Butte and the stories behind them. Our goal is to ensure that the places and the stories behind them are preserved and accessible. Some have been lost and many are not freely accessible. But with this project we hope to begin to recover and collect as much as we can. This project can only be carried out with the help and support of the people who love and enjoy our public lands. We hope to collect hard facts such as names and dates but also personal accounts and your experiences with places out at Gold Butte. Family stories and your personal narratives is what will bring this project to life.

Through our history we will preserve our access.

This was our group. Lots of family came out to support Dustin's project and to spend a beautiful day in the hills.

Here Dustin is explaining the project. He even made the front page of the local paper! Woot!!

After the BLM opening ceremony we headed out for our adventure. The purpose of the project is to document historic sites with pictures, GPS points and stories.

We picked Nay Ranch.

The Nay Ranch is full of great history and an awesome pond.

He-Who-Has-No-Name

Yesterday was my ultrasound follow up from this appointment. At my last ultrasound, the tech couldn't see the baby's stomach clearly and wanted me to come in again to make sure all was well. And it is.. phew!

Everything still looks "beautiful." He has all his organs, lip and palette are normal, hands, arms, feet and little boy parts are still intact! He's growing normally and is healthy!

Now he just needs a name!

Any ideas???!

Duh

Today Allie was drawing with sidewalk chalk on the back porch.

Excitedly she yelled, "Mom! Come see my grave yard."

"Allie that looks really good. But why is your name in the graveyard?"

"So when people come by they can see that its me!"

"Okay, but why are you in the graveyard?"

"Because I'm getting ready for Halloween, duh."

Oh... right Halloween. Phew...

Public Lands Day -- Gold Butte

Saturday September 25, 2010 is National Public Lands Day. National Public Lands Day celebrates service and recreation on public lands. The Public Lands Conservation Committee (PLCC) is working to get people involved to help keep the Gold Butte region clean and accessible for outdoor recreation. We are working to strengthen the community of good public land stewards.

Saturday morning, my family and I are all headed out to Gold Butte to work on a Historical Documenting project. Basically we are going to drive around all day visit our favorite spots, take pictures and GPS the coordinates for maps and such. Just another day in paradise for us!
